IES Consulting were commissioned to study the carbon monoxide concentration levels inside the car park of Zest Franklin, Canberra.

Key Facts

  • Analysis carried out entirely in the IESVE’s MicroFlo application
  • Jet Fans considered in addition to natural ventilation
  • Project aimed to meet Australian Standard 1668 (AS1668)

IES Consulting were commissioned to study the carbon monoxide concentration levels inside the car park of Zest Franklin, Canberra. To determine these levels, steady state CFD simulations were performed.

The CFD results were plotted in the form of contours of velocity and the CO concentration across various sections inside the carpark. This analysis was carried out entirely in the IESVE’s MicroFlo application. The consultants did an annual analysis to look at how much airflow is achieved and then looked at a typical scenario to see how carbon monoxide is distributed. Jet fans were considered in addition to natural ventilation from the outset due to the large scale of the car park. The project aimed to meet the Australian Standard 1668 (AS1668).
