IES Consulting performed the LEED energy modelling for this high end, Class A office development in the south side of Dublin.
The project achieved Gold certification for LEED’s Core and Shell (CS) rating system. Our expert consultants utilised their years of global experience to help the client maximise energy model credits through detailed energy modelling using the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE).
Typical to the area, the building is an older Victorian style building which has been refurbished with a new modern extension office development added to the back of the building. The development is fully air conditioned with a high performance envelope, high efficiency lighting and energy recovery.
Through the energy model, IES Consulting were able to help the client quantify the design and suggest tweaks to make it more energy efficient. Since Ireland is a heating dominated climate zone, most of the energy savings came from the airside energy recovery and the high efficiency condensing boilers. Comparing the energy model against the LEED baseline model, it scored well and achieved the target LEED Gold rating. Designed with LED lighting and a fan coil system, right system sizing was also carried out, contributing to significant energy savings.
IES Consulting are now working to help this same building achieve a Commercial Interior LEED (CI) Rating for several of its floors.
