IES Consulting assessed the pedestrian comfort levels by using CFD to model the air movements around the proposed changes to be carried out at the Stillorgan Shopping Centre near Dublin, Ireland.
Focal points on the site included the mall area within the shopping centre open at the two ends and the proposed carpark. IES checked the feasibility of the site for primarily for activities like standing and walking against the standard protocol of Lawson’s Pedestrian Comfort criteria. Using the Lawson Pedestrian safety criteria IES also determined if any location was susceptible to high speed gusts.
