IES Live Highly Commended at the 2026 CIBSE Building Performance Awards

We’re proud to announce that we have been Highly Commended at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2026, in the ‘Product or Innovation of the Year – Building Performance Evaluation’ category.

The award recognises the impact of our innovative building decarbonisation and energy management tool, IES Live, on real-world building performance.

Held on 5 March 2026, the awards celebrated excellence in delivering measurable building performance outcomes, showcasing the organisations and innovations driving progress towards a low-carbon built environment.

Recognising Real Performance, Not Just Design

The CIBSE Building Performance Awards are unique in their focus on measured, operational performance. They highlight projects and technologies that go beyond design intent to demonstrate tangible improvements in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and occupant outcomes.

Receiving a Highly Commended distinction places IES among the industry’s leading innovators, helping to shape the future of sustainable building performance.

Award-Winning Innovation: IES Live

IES Live is a cloud-based platform that enables AECO consultants to transform traditional energy models into live, operational digital twins.

By extending the value of models created in IESVE beyond the design phase, IES Live allows buildings to be continuously monitored, analysed, and optimised throughout their lifecycle.

The platform connects real-time data sources—including building management systems, IoT sensors, utilities, weather, and occupancy—into a single, intuitive interface. This creates a dynamic comparison between actual performance and a calibrated, physics-based “ideal” benchmark.

Proven Impact in Real Buildings

IES Live is already delivering significant results across operational buildings.

At United Wholesale Scotland’s Queenslie HQ, the platform identified:

  • Up to £30k in annual savings within 12 weeks
  • Major inefficiencies, including LED systems consuming 25% of site electricity
  • Underperforming solar PV systems, now being optimised

Across other deployments, IES Live has:

  • Exceeded predicted energy savings in pilot projects
  • Identified over £80k in savings in manufacturing environments
  • Supported large-scale decarbonisation strategies across complex estates

These outcomes demonstrate the platform’s ability to deliver real, verified performance improvements—a core focus of the CIBSE BPAs.
