VE Tech Tips - How to Model Complex Roofs in IESVE

In our latest VE Tech Tip, we’re taking a closer look at how to model or refine complex roof geometries directly inside the VE - no BIM import required. By breaking the roof into simple 3D solids, you can build even the most intricate shapes with full control and accuracy.

In the demo video below, we walk through several practical approaches you can use depending on your project needs, including:

  • Auto-generating a roof directly on our geometry
  • Drawing another space to generate a roof with a different footprint
  • Adding 3D shapes, then separating and trimming them to form the final structure
  • Merging all roof spaces to create a unified roof element
  • Defining overhangs as shading once the main geometry is complete

Whether you're refining an existing model or building a roof from scratch, these techniques make it easy to handle more advanced geometry directly within the VE.
