IES Congratulates Craig Wheatley on Election to the IBPSA-England Board

IES is delighted to announce that IES Chief Commercial Officer, Craig Wheatley, has been elected to the IBPSA-England Board. This achievement marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between research, industry, and practice in the field of building performance simulation.

IBPSA-England is the UK chapter of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA)—a global organisation dedicated to improving the built environment through the advancement of simulation technology. IBPSA-England brings together researchers, developers, and practitioners to share knowledge and expertise in building and environmental performance.

At IES, we are proud to be part of this important endeavour, working collectively to enhance building performance, shape better policies, and contribute to a more sustainable built environment.

Celebrating Leadership and Vision

We would also like to extend our congratulations to Professor Neveen Hamza, on her position as Chair of IBPSA-England. Her passion for simulation as a transformative tool for achieving better buildings, better cities, and a better climate future resonates strongly with our own mission at IES.

Neveen’s election manifesto, “Building Performance, Building Community,” sets out an inspiring vision for IBPSA-England’s future. Her priorities include:

1. Amplify Our Presence
Neveen aims to raise IBPSA-England’s profile across academia and industry through:

  • A strategic outreach campaign showcasing the association’s achievements.
  • A digital media strategy with webinars, podcasts, and expert interviews.
  • The creation of an IBPSA Ambassadors Programme to empower members to represent the organisation in key industry and policy forums.

2. A Return to Our Signature National Conference
Neveen is also advocating for the revival of a National Building Performance Simulation Conference, while strengthening collaboration with IBPSA-Scotland through joint events, shared research initiatives, and cross-border projects—fostering a united UK-wide simulation community.

We look forward to supporting IBPSA-England’s ongoing mission to connect people, research, and practice - transforming how we design and operate buildings for a more sustainable future.
