We're pleased to announce the establishment of Vietnam's first IESVE Living Lab through a strategic partnership with Van Lang University and Viet Land Investment Consulting and Construction Corporation (VILANDCO). The initiative aims to revolutionise sustainable building practices in Vietnam through advanced building performance simulation technology.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was formally signed at a ceremony hosted by Van Lang University, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam's journey toward sustainable construction and environmental stewardship.
The IESVE Living Lab will serve as a hub for research on net-zero buildings, provide comprehensive training programs for students, faculty, and industry professionals, and promote the widespread application of building performance simulation technologies across Vietnam's construction sector.
"This agreement represents more than just a cooperation pact – it is a significant step in Van Lang University's long-term vision for sustainable education and innovation," said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, Rector of Van Lang University, during her address at the signing ceremony. "By establishing this Living Lab, we are creating a platform that bridges academic research with industry practice, preparing our students to become leaders in sustainable construction."
The partnership brings together three key stakeholders:
Mr. Fazly Omar, Business Development Manager – ASEAN at IESVE Singapore Pte Ltd, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: "The establishment of the IESVE Living Lab at Van Lang University represents a critical step in developing local expertise in building performance simulation. This partnership will help Vietnam accelerate its transition to more sustainable construction practices while providing students with hands-on experience with industry-standard tools."
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Director of VILANDCO, added:
“As of the end of 2024, Vietnam has approximately 500 certified green building projects—a number that is expected to rise significantly. This indicates immense potential for sustainable development. This collaboration not only paves the way for training a green workforce but also provides students with foundational tools to enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to meet real-world demands.”
The ceremony was attended by key figures from all three organizations, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, Rector of Van Lang University; MSc Le Thi Minh Tam, Head of External Relations Department; Dr. Le Hung Tien, Director of Autodesk Van Lang Training Center; Fazly Omar, Business Development Manager – ASEAN, IESVE Singapore Pte Ltd; Nguyen Trung Kien, Director of Viet Land Investment Consulting and Construction Corporation (VILANDCO); and Ms. Huong Ly Thi Thuy, Branch Director of VILANDCO.
This partnership follows a successful joint seminar on building performance simulation held in December 2024, which connected students with industry experts and highlighted the growing importance of sustainable building practices in Vietnam's construction sector.
