The guide aims to offer practical advice to address the findings of our recent Sleeping Digital Twins whitepaper, which highlighted difficulties in accessing existing models as a main barrier to realising our vision for the better utilisation of energy models throughout the building lifecycle on the route to decarbonise.
Research which informed the Sleeping Digital Twins whitepaper revealed widespread industry enthusiasm for the concept and its power to more effectively decarbonise our buildings. However, challenges surrounding the availability of dormant design models were found to be a barrier in realising this vision.
We discovered that often the client is unaware that a model of their building already exists, or they know about it but due to various reasons are unable to access it. This means that it’s often more practical and efficient to build the model from scratch.
