IES' R&D team are delighted to be participating at Sustainable Places 2023, delivering presentations and a workshop on various EU research projects where IES is a partner. The hybrid event will run from 14th to 16th June 2023, with the in-person sessions hosted in Madrid, Spain.

Presentations

On Wednesday, 14th June IES Project Manager Niall Buckley is presenting at the conference during the "Nature-Based Solutions and Geology" paper session from 4pm - 5:30pm. His presentation “Outdoor Health and Well-being Digital Interface'' will be for VARCITIES project.

Amisha Panchal, Project Manager at IES is also presenting on Thursday, 15th June. Amisha will present “Using digital simulation and visualisation tools to conduct a feasibility study for deep renovation at a district scale” for StepUP Project during the "Renovation" paper session from 11am-12:30pm. 

IES Project Managers' Beatriz Fraga De Cal and Dimitrios Ntimos are also presenting on Thursday, 15th June during the paper session "Building Energy Performance" from 2pm-3:30pm. Beatriz's presentation “Optimising operational energy performance of EU buildings through Augmented Intelligence Dashboards. The End-User Experience” for AUTO-DAN project, and Dimitrios' presentation “Improving the energy performance of an office building with a virtual building management system” for iBECOME project. 

On Friday 16th June, Niall Buckley will be presenting “Enabling Smart Home Energy Responses”  for ESHER project during the "Smart Homes and Buildings" paper session from 11am-12:30pm. Dimitrios will also be presenting for TwinAIR project, his presentation “TwinAIR: Leveraging Digital Twins to Digitise and Optimise Indoor Air Quality for Occupant Health and Wellbeing” will be during the "Digital Twins" paper session.

Workshop

IES' Beatriz Fraga De Cal, Dimitrios Ntimos, Niall Buckley and Amisha Panchal are contributors on "IoT-enabled Digital Twins and building management systems: how innovative ICT services might contribute to the spread of smart buildings technologies" workshop on Thursday 15th June at 2pm. The workshop will be moderated by Andrea Costa of R2M Solution.

This workshop will introduce the main concepts, goals and first results from the projects iBECOME, Auto-DAN, STEPUP and ESHER, focusing on leveraging IoT-enabled Digital Twins to enable informed retrofit decisions and allowing smart energy and comfort optimization services with the purpose of reducing the energy bills, making buildings grid-interactive and contribute towards decarbonising the building stock. An overview of the ICT solutions proposed as well as vital insights of real-life scenarios will be presented.
