Business Development Managers (Climate Tech) – multiple roles

UK and Ireland (remote working available)

This position will require regular travel throughout UK/Ireland. Occasional European/North American travel may also be required.

The Opportunity

IES are currently looking for a number of business development managers to join our growing business development team and help us deliver our products to market.  The Intelligent Communities Lifecycle (ICL) is our suite of interconnected tools which facilitates the planning, design and operation of energy efficient and sustainable cities, communities, campuses, portfolios, buildings and local networks.

You will be responsible for developing our business, forming and building relationships with clients and selling the benefits of our unique range of products and services. Following a period of training and mentoring, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop the role and to reap rewards for their hard work.

The Candidates

You may already have a proven track record of developing new business in a technical discipline. Alternatively, you may have been working as a technical consultant and wish to develop your career in a more sales-oriented position.

Essential Skills:

  • Outstanding influencing and relationship-building skills
  • Professional presentation skills
  • A proactive attitude and ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop leads and win sustainable business
  • Construction industry experience

Knowledge of at least one of the following domains:

  • Sustainable building design
  • Awareness of energy regulations and standards
  • Awareness of voluntary environmental rating schemes such as LEED, BREEAM. Nabers etc.
  • Awareness of Measurement and Verification of buildings for energy compliance and the issues surrounding the performance gap
  • Awareness of digital technologies across the construction sector
  • Awareness of city scale modelling for energy and urban design
  • Awareness of local energy systems and their distribution networks, e.g. heating, cooling, electricity, water, waste etc. and how these integrate with buildings
  • Awareness of issues such as demand response and flexibility of our local energy system
  • Awareness of issues surrounding the decarbonisation of the built environment
