Back-End Developer

Glasgow (home-working initially)

This opportunity will be temporarily homebased due to COVID-19, then subsequently working from our Glasgow office with hybrid and flexible working options available.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Back-End Web Developer to join our Software Development team in our Glasgow office. The successful candidate will be working within a dynamic software team, developing our online digital twin platform for community resource monitoring and management.

The day-to-day workload will involve developing online technology, collaborating with our existing software portfolio, participating in code reviews and providing input to the product.

The Candidate

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Essential Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years commercial experience of developing software
  • A degree in computing or a related scientific field
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture
  • Knowledge of best practices and design patterns
  • Experience implementing Web APIs
  • Strong competencies in C#, ASP.NET and ASP.NET Core
  • Experience with a modern RDBMS
  • Unit testing practices and tools
  • Previous experience mentoring junior developers

Desirable Skills:

If you have knowledge, experience or even a keen interest in some of the following areas, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms
  • PostgreSQL
  • Spatial databases
