The IESVE enables the integration of carbon accounting, regulatory compliance along with Voluntary Environmental Rating Systems (VERS) such as USGBC LEED from the earliest stages of the design process and all from one model. It is an integrated suite of software providing a ‘one stop shop’ for steady state heat loss/heat gain predictions, Building Regulation Compliance, natural ventilation design, incorporation of daylighting controls in thermal and compliance calculations, lighting design, detailed HVAC systems simulation.
A holistic approach encourages deeper collaboration among the design team by seeking discipline experts to provide their input directly into the model. The VE offers quicker and easier evaluation of design options against the various regulatory and voluntary performance requirements set on projects. By streamlining the design and construction processes more meaningful evaluation and optimisation of a particular design can be carried out in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks. Different options can be appraised with reliable feedback on capital cost, running cost and environmental impact to achieve the appropriate balance.
IES innovations and developments streamline and assist the LEED certification process. The IES VE-Navigator for LEED automates credit assessment across daylighting, comfort, water and renewables for LEED NC V2.2/V3, LEED SchoolsV1/V3 and LEED Core and Shell V2/V3. It offers the ability to input and manipulate exact building data and produce reports suitable for use with LEED letter templates. Our VE-Navigator for ASHRAE 90.1 LEED Energy modelling tool facilitates the Appendix G PRM Method. The functionality and approach of the ASHRAE 90.1 Navigator follows the same concept as the LEED Navigator, in that it simplifies and streamlines the use of analysis tools to create efficient ways of assessing the energy credit.
